To celebrate Chinese New Year with the citizens and to promote traditional Chinese culture, CEM specially holds the “Auspicious Couplets Welcome the New Year” calligraphy exhibition by inviting Macao renowned calligraphers to write their New Year Blessings to citizens.
The unveiling ceremony was held at CEM Building Ground Floor Main Lobby in the afternoon. The officiating guests include Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy-Director of the Culture and Education Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, Ma Kam Keong, Member of the Administrative Council of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Institute, U Sek Hei, Representative of the Culture Affairs Bureau, Ung Si Meng, President of the Meng Meng Culture and Art Interchange Association, Iao Tuen Ieong, Principal of Hou Kong Middle School, Bernie Leong, Executive Director of CEM, Vong Kok Seng, President of CEM Customer Liaison Committee, and Lei Chi Fong, Vice President of CEM Customer Liaison Committee (CLC). Other guests included the authors and CLC members.
CEM Executive Director Bernie Leong states in his speech that Spring Festival couplets are the traditional auspicious decorations, expressing the best wishes and hopes through calligraphy art, and praying for good luck in everything in the New Year. The couplets can also increase the festive atmosphere. Therefore, CEM specially stages the couplet calligraphy art exhibition, titled “Auspicious Couplets Welcome the New Year”, at the CEM Building. The exhibition gained great support from renowned calligraphers in Macao. They joined hands to express their wishes to all Macau citizens on their calligraphy works, wishing everyone all the best, perfect health and lasting prosperity.
The 18 authors include Macao renowned calligraphers Tong Chi Kin, Ung Si Meng, Iao Tuen Ieong, Lai Seng Pui, Ieong Keang Sang, Lei Tak Seng, Sou Kam Leong, Ng Shuen On, Mok Wa Kei, Mok Hei Sai, Lee Man Wai, Lei Kam Wa, Yam Fong Chan, Ao Ieong Chak Weng, Ho Lai Sim, Ho Loi Seng, CEM Franklin Willemyns and Iun Iok Meng.
The exhibition will run until 28 February, 9:00am to 10:00pm. Citizens are welcome to go to CEM Building to appreciate the works.
